What is Dyslexic All Day?
Summit Academy is redefining school options for dyslexic learners. Typically, dyslexic students are successful in schools that specialize only in remediation. Summit Academy ventures to embody remediation while providing expeditionary learning that is: active, challenging, meaningful, public, and collaborative for both dyslexic and traditional learners.
What is Expeditionary Learning (EL)?
Expeditionary Learning schools inspire the motivation to learn, engage teachers, and students in new levels of focus and effort, and transform schools into places where students and adults become leaders of their own learning. This model is ideal for the dyslexic mind.
Who is Summit Expeditionary Academy?

1 in every 5 children are dyslexic.  These bright minds are not just dyslexic when they read and write.  They are dyslexic every minute of the day.  Dyslexia is not about what these children “have” but who they ARE.

Launch this Pilot Program

Dyslexic All Day is a pilot program within Summit Expeditionary Academy.  The goal of the program is to rethink how dyslexic learners are taught within the educational system. Your support will assist in the following ways:

  • ŸŸLower the Barriers – Stitching together multiple technologies based upon individual student needs (ipads, Text-to-speech, graphic organizers, optical character recognition software) will provide critical support for the dyslexic child, increase confidence and encourage self-advocacy within the classroom.
  • Teach the Teachers – the dyslexic support specialist and classroom teachers will work together, building a learning environment where tutoring and classroom work occur in congruence not separate.  This program is not an event outside the classroom; it is the entire learning experience. Success of this pilot program will open the door to creating a model of global significance for dyslexic learners in all educational environments.
